Two interesting events to report.

Annual Perennial Plant Sale, May 11-12. Congratulations to Callie and crew for another highly successful plant sale, the proceeds of which go to the Wider Work Ministry of the church for distribution to communities in need. Click our flickr page for photos.

Men's Breakfast May 12. Dr. Barry Burtis, a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College, speaking on the theme of "Voyages" described his trip to Guatemala (2006) and Nepal (2008). He worked with two organizations, CCAMRE (Canadian Central American Relief Effort) and Vets Without Borders. His interest in the former focussed on helping animals (dogs and cats) and people free themselves from parasites; the latter raised funds to send computers to the Veterinary College in Rampur,Nepal. Dr Burtis also described his trek to the Everest Base Camp at the foot of the Himalayas, the friendly people and the difficulties encountered treking at 17,000 feet altitude.

MINISTRY MEETINGS.

At the Official Board meeting of March 5,2012, our Official Board passed three motions recommending the inclusiion of the following statements in the Doctrine section of the Basis of Union:
1. A Standard of Faith. (1940)
2. A New Creed (revised in 1994)
3. A Song of Faith. (2006)

Halton Presbytery has passed similar motions which will now be forwarded to the United Church of Canada.
